Evening on the Lake

Well, tonight I ventured out onto the Jordanelle Reservoir Lake.  A beautiful afternoon, the temperture somewhere around 80 degrees when we ventured out about 5:30 pm.  My husband and I set off across the lake to one of our favorite coves. A few timbers, tucked away from the crazy wakeboarders, and this evening nice still waters.  There was no wind tonight, which is a first.

I had purchased a few new lures a couple of days ago, so I was excited to try them out tonight. Unfortunately, things were not working out like a couple of nights ago.  I’m a fan of Lucky Craft Lures and earlier this week in the same cove I snagged 3 smallmouth bass within 45 minutes, could have been less, but I wasn’t really keeping track of time, it just felt like bang, bang, bang!!  I had used the Fat CB GDS Mini DR in the Aurora Black. I love the action on this lure, though I do think you really have to have sensitive hands to feel the hit.

But tonight was a totally different story, after almost 2 hours on the lake, several different coves, nothing!!! Finally, around 7:40 I landed a smallmouth, only one.  I happened to be using one of the new lures I purchased, the Rapala, Glass Shad Rap , glass blue color. The water was muddy and about 75degrees in about 14′ of water.

Well that was it for tonight. We’ll see what Saturday has in store for us.
